Richard Myburgh (b.1984) is a graphic designer, design consultant and artist living in Cape Town, South Africa. Most recently his work was exhibited at the 2018 Sasol New Signatures exhibition, the 2018 Woordfees Visual Art Skrif exhibition and “Ink on paper” (2019) at the La Motte Pierneef Museum.
Richard’s drawings are mostly created using ink and brush. This medium allows for spontaneity as well as control. His portraits do not represent anyone in particular. The images are often created to be sexually ambiguous and void of race or culture. They can be interpreted in different ways. The portrait gives enough information without dictating a specific character or outcome, leaving it to the viewer to decide the narrative.
