Emoti Mori is an appropriation of the medieval Latin Christian theory and practice of a Memento mori (Latin: “remember that you have to die”) where one reflects on the mortality and vanity of earthly life and the transient nature of all earthly goods and pursuits. It is related to the ars moriendi (“The Art of Dying”) and similar literature. Emoti Mori is a contemporary reminder of mortality and living in the present.
